The Ethiopian Meat Producer-Exporters Association, EMPEA, was established on 20 July 2003, based on the proclamation No 341/2003 that declared the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce and Sectional Associations. EMPEA has 14 members that are engaged in meat processing and export. The Ethiopian meat producer-exporters association is an establishment comprising of members who own state of the art slaughter houses with livestock reception pens, automatic and semiautomatic mechanical abattoirs, chilling rooms, air conditioned deboning facilities, packing and rendering and effluent treatment plant.

All meat exported to the Middle East is certified by independent Islamic Affairs Councils accredited by high level international bodies that monitor the abattoir operations, ensuring that the animals are slaughtered according to the proper Islamic killing procedures. Thus, Ethiopia has got Halal Accreditation certificate from Emirates International Accreditation Center.

All Ethiopian export abattoirs are HACCP certified by third-party International certifying bodies. In addition, all Ethiopian export abattoirs are ISO 22000 and ISO 9000 certified.

We have established a factory under the name and style of Aksekar Ethiopia Casing PLC at Modjo Town, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia in 2014.  We have done additional investment after acquiring this plant to comply with international standards and have started production of premium quality Beef, Camel, Sheep and Goat Meat and variety meat products.

This facility is equipped with all required modern machineries for slaughtering, meat deboning, packing and storage apart from processing and packing of variety meat products.  It follows strict quality and hygiene standards and also has a fully equipped quality control lab.  The facility has all the required permissions and is ISO / HACCP certified and also has Certificate of Approval by Veterinary Services Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Akseker has a production capacity of 3500 heads ovine and 300 heads of bovine per day.

We have also built up another factory under the name of Frigorifico Boran Foods PLC (FBF), in the Oromia Regional State. It's a complete integrated factory and it is fully commercial production since April 2nd 2018 and made successful fresh chilled meat export to UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. It is one of the largest and best factory in the African continent. Which has a production capacity of 9000 heads of ovine and 3000 heads of bovine per day.

Currently, we are already exporting our frozen meat to UAE, Oman, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Qatar, Cameroon, Cambodia, Seychelles and Vietnam. We have successfully made substantial shipments of Chilled Goat, Lamb and Bovine Carcasses to UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Gabon, Senegal and Guinea.

Mullege PLC is one of the leading coffee exporters in Ethiopia and has been in the coffee business for over three decades. We exclusively trade Green Arabica Coffee Beans from Ethiopia and offer both naturally pulped, washed coffee and naturally sun-dried coffee beans. Our clientele has now expanded to four continents worldwide. Our Beginning Mullege’s inception began in 1955 by Awal Ishaq, who had a great vision but with little means to fulfill it. Awal began as a small coffee supplier to exporters and educated his son Mustafa, who used to unilaterally negotiate prices with farmers to sell to exporters by using donkeys as transportation in the early 1970s. Mustafa’s sagacious business approach allowed the business to blossom, and by 1996, Mullege went from a small supplier to an exporter with fully loaded coffee containers. Mullege now has clients in twenty-seven countries in four continents worldwide. From the vision of a small coffee supplier to an internationally known exporter, within three generations, Mullege has soared to unprecedented success through a strong foundation, innovative ideas, and persistent dedication.
