Chamber of Commerce Pointe Noire

& AFREXIMBANK Webinar
28 May 2025 - 17:00 GMT +3

Afreximbank is a Pan-African multilateral institution specializing in financing and promoting intra-African and extra-African trade. With a broad mandate, the Bank provides support in project preparation to ensure bankability, offers financing solutions, and collaborates closely with trade support agencies to identify, structure, and fund viable projects, thereby strengthening commercial capacities across the continent. Also show case successful projects and business supported by Afreximbank to provide Central Africa Region members with practical examples of how they can leverage the Bank’s products and services.

This mission is particularly relevant in a context where Africa is undergoing significant economic transformation driven by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This agreement unlocks unprecedented opportunities for intra-African trade by stimulating exchanges, reducing tariff barriers, and fostering economic integration. In partnership with trade support agencies, Afreximbank plays a vital role in equipping African businesses with the financial and operational tools they need to thrive in this evolving commercial ecosystem.

The Central African region holds significant economic potential, primarily driven by its vast natural resources, including minerals like cobalt, diamonds, and gold, as well as substantial oil and gas reserves. The Congo Basin, the world's second-largest tropical rainforest, offers opportunities in sustainable forestry and timber exports. Agriculture is another key sector, with vast arable land suitable for cash crops like cocoa, coffee, and palm oil, alongside potential for improving food security. The region also boasts immense hydropower potential, particularly from the Congo River, and significant solar energy opportunities.

Additionally, the development of transport infrastructure and regional trade corridors could enhance intra-regional trade and access to larger markets. Tourism, leveraging unique wildlife and cultural heritage, and the growing digital economy, including mobile banking and e-commerce, further contribute to the region's economic prospects. IATF2025 offers a platform to engage in strategic conversations at the continental level to realise these potentials.
