I am a patent examiner at the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) based in Zimbabwe. My career background is in organic chemistry, and as a patent examiner at ARIPO, I review inventions in the field of chemistry. This includes inventions in organic chemistry, material science, metallurgy, agriculture, and pharmaceutical science. My work involves searching for prior art documents from all available databases, classifying inventions, examining inventions for novelty and inventive step, and granting patents and utility models for inventions on behalf of ARIPO’s member states. I am excited about inventions by African inventors and look forward to engaging with them at the IATF-2025 on the importance of the protection of intellectual property.
