Fatoumata Bintou Kandé, better known as Fatou Kandé Senghor, is an artist for everything. “It is not the medium that defines me, it is the theme that imposes on me the form of sharing; then I make declensions" she says very often. She remains a multi-faceted visual artist who uses multiple media for what she calls “triggering the peaceful confrontation". Her subject can begin with photography to spread on a video, a series of engraving, charcoals, texts; then that blend becomes an installation. She explores the intersection between art, technology and academic research.
Director of films of all kinds, style, format, she is also known as trainer in photo and video for out-of-school youth and young people in learning difficulties or social integration after a stay in prison. She develops an original technique of introduction to cinema and video in Wolof language and in practice to popularize this medium in disadvantaged neighborhoods in collaboration with centers of alternative education and other associations.
