Chijioke Ochogwu is an Associate at AELEX’s Corporate/Commercial, Company Secretarial, Corporate Governance, Labour & Employment, and International Trade Practice groups.
In her role as a boardroom lawyer, Chijioke offers comprehensive legal counsel to businesses, focusing on corporate law, governance structures, regulatory compliance, due diligence, contract negotiations, business startups, and related areas.
She plays a pivotal role in AELEX's labour and employment practice, advising companies on employment disputes, employment contract reviews, HR policy compliance with local laws, employee management, confidentiality, redundancy procedures, and termination issues.
Chijioke's expertise extends to her involvement with Nigeria's National Action Committee on AfCFTA, where she contributed to mapping stakeholders in priority service sectors, creating a roadmap for AfCFTA implementation, evaluating service sector modes, providing capacity-building consultancy, and organising stakeholder engagement sessions for the Business Services Workstream. She is also part of the team that consulted for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa on the review of laws, policies, and regulations across five priority sectors, including Health and Education in Nigeria, to provide alignment with the provisions of the AfCFTA.
She is a Chartered Secretary and Administrator of Nigeria and serves on the Mentorship, Internship, and Publication committee of the ICSAN Abuja chapter. She is also a member of the Compliance Institute of Nigeria.
