The African Union recognises the African Diaspora as the sixth region of the continent, an

acknowledgement of its profound cultural, economic, and political influence. In alignment with this

recognition, Afreximbank has developed the Global African Strategy, which expands the definition of

Intra-African Trade to include economic exchanges between Africa and its global diaspora,

collectively referred to as Global Africa.

Global Africa Day at IATF2025 will highlight the vibrant linkages between Africa and its Diaspora

across trade and commerce, culture, policy, and innovation. Through a dynamic suite of events and

exhibitions, the programme will amplify opportunities to invest in and collaborate with African

Diaspora communities worldwide.
